SUBSTANCE ABUSE

The Wedge Substance Abuse Services are comprised of two levels of care, Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Outpatient (OP) programs. The IOP program delivers group sessions 3 times a week with one individual session a week, the OP program delivers group twice a week with an individual session once a month. We also offer psych services and medication management for members with mental health diagnoses concurrent with drug and alcohol (D&A). We offer a holistic and individualized approach to treatment with a shared goal of improving the quality of life of our members.

In 2016, Wedge was designated an Opiate Use Disorder Center of Excellence by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  We now offer two medication-assisted treatment programs, which utilize burprenorphone/naloxone (Suboxone®), buprenorphine (Subutex®), or injectable naltrexone (Vivitrol®) to support individuals in fighting opiate addiction.  Our Opiate Treatment Program (OTP) is an intensive outpatient service for adults, and includes group counseling, individual counseling, and case management, as well as induction and maintenance of medication.  Our Temple-Wedge Opiate Treatment Program (TWO) is a collaboration with Temple University Hospital’s Obstetrics Department, and offers intensive outpatient and medication induction/management, as well as OB services and case management.

Why would someone choose the Wedge, this is best answered by our members, so when asked the responses, as follows, where very clear. The Wedge provides an environment that nurtures a supportive relationship between the member and staff. The connection the Wedge continues to build with the community offers our members a safe sounding board to explore their role within the community and the Wedge offers support and non-judgmental guidance to members in reaching their life goals.

We accept referrals from Crisis centers, State and Federal PO’s, FIR/IPP, Treatment Court, DUI Court, Family Court, Community Court, self-referrals to name a few. The potential member is referred for treatment, an appointment is set within 48 – 72 hours and at that appointment a comprehensive Bio-Psychosocial Evaluation is completed. The member is scheduled for the appropriate level of care and provided a schedule for treatment and their Counselors name.

The staff, as a whole, are very engaging with the members, The Clinical staff provide precise reporting and collaboration with Referral Sources. The Clinical staff use a variety of therapeutic interventions and modalities (i.e., motivational interviewing, CBT).

Finally, no one persons addiction is like another, so no one persons journey to recovery will be the same. The Wedge delivers individualized treatment tailored to the needs of the individual in conjunction with evidence based best practices.
